HANGING FOOTBRIDGE of Camaligan, Camarines Sur

 

The Camaligan Hanging Footbridge, or the Camaligan Hanging Bridge, is a magnificent 50-meter-long bridge that links the isolated barangays of San Francisco and Tarosanan to the bustling town proper of Camaligan. The bridge, which cost P5.5 million to construct, stretches over the picturesque Bicol River, making it an awe-inspiring sight for anyone who visits.

Residents and students who frequently cross the Bicol River using a traditional boat named "dakit" have greatly benefited from the construction of the Camaligan Hanging Footbridge. This is particularly true for San Francisco residents who commute to Naga City for work and students of Sto. Tomas National High School, as there is only one boat available to transport them. This footbridge has provided a much-needed alternative transportation option.

Alongside the artifacts uncovered at the Suanoy na Kamposanto (Old Cemetery Site), a collection of skeletal remains were also found by the LGU during the construction of the Hanging Bridge in 2019. These remains were situated deep in the riverbank, which is still part of Camaligan's archaeological site.
